La Misma Luna

Rosario left her son Carlitos in Mexico with his Grandma to flee to the Uunited States when he was only 4 years old to try to make a better life for her and him. While in the US Rosario was working several jobs to make enough money to get a Lawyer to obtain a visa and become a legal alien in the United States. Rosario would also send $300.00 every month to the Grandma to help take care of her son. She would also send Carlitos birthday presents.


Im Mexico there are no jobs and she wanted better for her and her son. I cannot imagine how she found the strength to leave. Determination is a great motivator.

Carlitos felt abandoned by his Mother and felt like she did not love him. The only thing he that he had was a Grandma who swore to never let anyone take him away. He worked every day after school to make money so he could go to the US to find his Mother. Rosario missed her son so much and the only contact with him was a phone call every Sunday at 10 am. Rosario would call him and try to be strong on the phone but she cried talking to him and missing him so much. I believe Rosario was missing out on a relationship with Paco because she needed to be focused on the task at hand.

Here in the US we do not have to worry about doing something like that. We as Americans are very lucky to live where we do. There are so many Agencies and Government Agencies that women can go to for help. I do believe that it is possible to leave for a short time if there was a promotion of some sort in her job. I also believe that she would try to come home as much as possible to her child. When a woman is given no choice she will do whatever needs to be done regardless of where she lives.
